POLINOX B Passiv is an immersion solution for the treatment of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. Both stabilized as well as non-stabilized materials can be treated.
POLINOX B Passiv is also suitable for the treatment of Nickel and Nickel alloys.
POLINOX B Passiv rapidly establishes the protective passive layer on the stainless steel’s surface and hence ensures it’s optimal corrosion resistance.
POLINOX B Passiv can be employed in the further treatment (post-treatment) of pickled surfaces and welds if work is carried out under critical conditions as well as in the passivation after mechanical surface treatment such as polishing, grinding, brushing or abrasive blasting.
Treatment with POLINOX B Passiv creates a uniform surface appearance.
POLINOX B Passiv contains nitric acid and additives. POLINOX B Passiv is free from hydrochloric acid and chlorides and therefore avoids the problem of pitting corrosion in austenitic steels.
POLINOX B Passiv is used via immersion- or trickling-processes. Optimal results are achieved if treatment is carried out using original POLIGRAT equipment (a POLIGRAT plant) as this is best adapted to the use of POLINOX B Passiv. A suitable bath material is PE. POLINOX B Passiv is supplied as a concentrate and is mixed in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:4 with fully de-ionized water.
POLINOX B Passiv is normally used at room temperature. The temperature of the passivation bath can be raised to a maximum of 40 °C. The treatment time varies according to circumstances between 30 and 180 minutes.
After passivation the surfaces and crevices have to be rinsed with water, preferably using a high-pressure rinse. During the application the working instructions have to be followed and protective clothing and safety goggles have to be worn. The acidic rinse water has to be disposed of ac-cording to the statutory laws and regulations.
